dc.description.abstractIn their editorial note, Samantha Colón, Nathan Thompson, and Dana Burde frame research and practice in the education in emergencies (EiE) data and evidence ecosystem within the prevailing political, economic, and social dynamics that influence learner experiences in conflict and crisis contexts. With this perspective, they summarize the key findings of the five research articles, four field notes, one commentary, and five book reviews included in this JEiE Special Issue. They observe the contributing authors’ innovative responses to conflict, crisis, displacement, and disrupted education, among other themes, and highlight these authors’ contributions to discourse on ethical, equitable, locally grounded data and evidence systems for EiE. The contributing authors interrogate governance and decisionmaking, present recommendations to improve the EiE data and evidence ecosystem, and ground evidence in ethical and localized practices for vulnerable and marginalized communities across the world.en
